Graphic Design Portfolio
I'm so excited to share my projects with you!
I find pride and joy in what I do and I hope you do too!

Lovely to meet you!
I'm Katie Horton, a graphic designer and general creator. My passion lies in bringing innovative ideas to fruition. My motto is, 'I love that idea, let's figure out how to make it happen.' Whether it's logo design, a publication, digital animation, photography, video, or a life-sized puppet, I commit myself to finding creative solutions that take design to the next level.
Currently a student at Drexel University pursuing my Bachelor's in Graphic Design, I have extensive industry experience designing marketing materials for a financial advisory firm that manages over $100 billion in assets.
My background in product design sets me apart from other graphic designers. This experience helped me grow my fabrication and 3D conceptualization skills and develop as a multimedia artist.
My philosophy? The world around us is ever-changing and exciting; design should reflect that.
Other Creative Work
I love to create anything I can think of and apply my skills to new experimentation.
Here's a taste of some of my other creative work!

Amyl and the Sniffers Gig Poster
Collage, Procreate, Photoshop
Amyl and the Sniffers is an Australian 'pub-punk' band that is 100% worth a listen if you're not familiar. I created this poster with a combination of physical collage and digital manipulation using Photoshop and Procreate.

Musk Ox Digital Drawing
Procreate
This is an observational drawing of a taxidermy exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia.

Wax Word Illustration
Wax, Photography, Photoshop, Procreate
To illustrate both the word 'wax' and the material of wax, I combined several media. First, I photographed real wax letters that I melted. Then, I manipulated that image in Photoshop to bring out details that provide important information about the material. Then, I utilized a variety of brushes in Procreate to emphasize shadows and highlights and create smooth, waxy edges.

Keith
Pizza boxes, old school notes, repurposed textiles, repurposed pillow fill
Keith is a Sesame Street inspired puppet made entirely of repurposed materials. He is playful, funny, and a vocal environmental activist.

Tiled Transparency Collage
Color-aid, collage, acrylic paint, gel pen, Photoshop
For this project, I created a composition by hand that showcases both illusions of and actual transparency. Then, I tiled this image in Photoshop to create a symmetrical design.

Craftsman Cube
Dowels, glue
This cube has 3 internally suspended layers, each with different facades contributing to the final design. I was inspired by the architecture and woodwork in Greene and Greene's Gamble House. Thus, I call this my “Craftsman Cube.”
